6:30pm
- Guests Arrive - Background Music - Cocktails
7pm
- Bride and Groom arrive and are announced to the guests
(sometimes this is done by the Best Man)
7:15pm
- Cake Cutting Ceremony
7:30pm
- Dinner (usually this is announced by the Father or
parent of the Bride) [SIDE NOTE] - An "Eat and Mingle" buffet
style dinner is preferred over a "sit down" dinner because a
sit down dinner tends to slow your party down and can make
your guests "sluggish".
8:15pm
- Toasts (Best Man, Maid of Honor, Parents, etc.)
8:30pm
- Bride and Grooom First Dance - (it is recommended that the
first dance be played on CD)
8:35pm
- Father of the Bride and Bride Dance - (optional)
8:40pm
- Mother of the Groom and Groom Dance - (optional)
8:45pm
- Entire Bridal Party Dance - CD (sometimes the
Bridal Party is asked to join during the Mother of the Groom
and Groom dance in the middle of the song - this fits into a
little trick explained below)
8:50pm
- Band Starts Immediately following the last of the
"dances". A good trick is to have the entire Bridal
Party on the dance floor when the band starts (see above
where we invited the entire Bridal Party to join in the last
dance) this way there's already people on the dance floor
having a good time from the very first song the band plays
making it more comfortable for the rest of your reception
guests to join in. TRICKY!
9:50pm
- *Band Break - Now it's time for the Bouquet Toss / Garter
Toss (optional)
*Please note that most of our top variety bands provide a CD
player/iPod for band breaks and cocktail music. This music
should be selected by you and can be a way to have some
songs played that you want that the band doesn't perform.
Look at it like you're getting a band AND a DJ in one.
Most receptions will need about 2 hours of cocktail/dinner
music, and about 1 hour of band break music (2 breaks of 30
minutes). If you can't decide what to use for
cocktail/dinner music we usually recommend either smooth
Jazz or Frank Sinatra, etc. and most of our bands have this
music on CD/iPod already.
10:15pm
- Band's Second Set
11:45pm
- Bride and Groom Exit - some couples put in a special song
here while guests are saying their goodbye's...
Say Goodnight
and hear your friends and family tell you that they just
attended the BEST wedding reception in history!
